Michael Garrad's View

The will to act - on a plan, on a dream. When what lies ahead is unclear, clouded by doubts, it’s easy to step away and carry on as usual. Do nothing, status quo.

It takes determination and clarity of focus to attain a specific goal, especially when the doubters heckle. Make no mistake, making decisions can be difficult but if we all thought like that, not much would get done, or would have been done.

In Canberra, they argue. Whether a decision’s right or wrong, they still argue! Many may believe but they can’t afford to be seen to believe in an ideal, a notion, a plan, an objective.

It’s the game of politics, a merry-go-round that you and I pay for.

Politics is not just Canberra - it’s insidiously in every aspect of our lives. Family politics. Business politics. Workplace politics. Church politics. Community politics.

No matter which way we turn, politics cloud issues and making decisions based purely on fact and logic.

If only we had the will to act independently of the “party line”. But that, or course, is being totally naȉve!
